Judith Pinkerton
Judith Ann Pinkerton is the visionary Founder and CEO of Music4Life®, a licensed, certified music therapist, online educator, and leader dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of music. Her journey began with the violin and classical music, eventually expanding to embrace all genres. Fueled by an adventurous and creative spirit within a supportive environment, Judith continually pioneers new ways to support others through music.
Throughout her career, Judith has received numerous accolades. She was honored as the first recipient of the Aflac & Academy of Country Music “Lifting Lives Honor” (2018) and the “Changemaker Award” for Music Therapy Advocacy from the American Music Therapy Association (2012). Her legislative advocacy led to securing significant funding (SB-579, Section 30, 2007) and licensure for music therapy in Nevada (SB-190, 2011), including a $305,798 grant from the Fund for a Healthy Nevada (2008). In 2001, she received the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Community Achievement Award in Arts & Entertainment.
As a TEDxUNLV speaker, “Music Powers Potential: Building Mental Fitness” (2014), Judith’s discography reflects her deep commitment to music therapy, featuring titles like “Stress Brake” (2010), “MEE™ Concert” (1991), and “MEE™ in the Key of Peace” (1989). She has authored numerous publications and accredited curricula, including “6 Habits of Music Medicine for Highly Empowered People” (2023) and “The Sound of Healing” (1996, 2003). Her articles have appeared in Corporate Wellness Magazine, Music as Medicine, Mental Health Spectrum, and other reputable journals, with her podcasts on iTunes.
She holds a B.A. in Music from Thomas Edison State University and a Music Therapy Equivalency from Arizona State University. Judith is a Nevada Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) and a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), having earned the first music therapy license issued in the USA on November 1, 2011.
Judith’s passion for music therapy ignited in 1986 when her solo violin music replaced medication post-surgery for her husband. This passion was reignited in 2023 when music therapy played a crucial role in her father’s remarkable recovery in the ICU, with his physician declaring it “scientifically unexplainable.” With over twenty years of experience, Judith has treated a variety of client populations from womb to tomb, with more than 11,000 clients residing within addiction treatment centers.
Currently, Judith is immersed in several groundbreaking projects. She is working on an IRB-approved hospital study, long-term case studies, programs connecting mental health organizations with symphonies, and training mental health providers to support users through her patented music app Key2MEE. Additionally, she spearheads the next phase of Key2MEE and will complete a book series with a futuristic focus.
Judith’s approach to life, seeking to serve, is encapsulated in her favorite phrase: “Challenged every day to enjoy life as a journey into more.” This philosophy shines through in her hobbies, which include periodic family-driven hiking on scenic trails, camping under the stars, skiing down snowy slopes, exploring new destinations, volunteering in her community, gaming, and playing beautiful music in symphony and small chamber groups.
