“During the ‘MEE Concert’ I felt a swift blow in my back just below my shoulder blades. I thought the man behind me had hit me with his fist. But I realized the blow was below the level of the chair back, so it couldn’t have been from an external source. Upon discussion with a class facilitator the next day, she suggested it was my heart chakra opening. I have had a slipped disk and some leg pain since 1956, but recently I noticed the pain has gone away since the chakra-opening event.”
Imagine attending a concert, lecture, or seminar where music is applied as medicine to deeply support your intention: making you feel much better, unforgettably informed, and more profoundly connected. You can make this happen when:
As an audience member: advocate with event organizers to infuse their programming with the Music Medicine Protocol.
As a band member: advocate with your band leaders, songwriters, and composers to write music that programs the event following the mood music formula targeting optimal healing potential for your fans.
As a producer: require your musicians, songwriters, and composers to deliver Music Medicine, following the components learned in the Music Medicine training that includes all genres.
As indicated by two preliminary studies using the MEE™ Concert, Judith performed “live” violin during her accredited seminars, accompanied by the band or a music-minus-one recording of the band. A three-year exploratory study (1991-1993) of participants (n = 212) revealed significant effect (p<.01), employing a paired samples T-test (reference Page 13).
Negative Current States reduced significantly (mean=3.03; std dev.=4.43; t=9.98; df=211)
Positive Current States improved significantly (mean=-6.39; std. dev. 5.75; t=-16.18; df=211)

In the beginning, Music 4 Life® Founder and Creator of the Music Medicine Protocol, Judith Pinkerton, investigated audience preferences during her concerts, informally studying attendees’ preferences for solo violin selections classified into five mood groupings. These groupings progressed into “negative-neutral-positive” which the author renamed as the USE method, with three mood categories of “Unsettled-Soothed-Energized.”
The USE method advanced the MEE™ Concert, developed from theories founded in neuroscience and psychology research. Pinkerton produced the MEE™ Concert (1991), a specialized mood formula performed with her band of violin, piano, synthesizer, bass and drums. The end-result: a catharsis, a purification of emotions, which changes the intense experience of problem moods.
“I can use music to improve my physical, motivational, emotional goals.
All to become the best Airman I can be.”
